When he did not get another chance in Bollywood he came to South and got a chance for acting in Telugu film 'Manorama' in After this his role was noted. Though his actual debut film was Cycle Kick in Hindi the practical debut can be considered as the Telugu Manorama in He again went to Mumbai to try luck again.

He was apprehensive to do Malayalam film as he felt the language is very tough and he may find it extremely difficult. On the encouragement from Shyamaprasad he agreed. This film Ritu was his actual career break. After this he was called by Sibi Malayil for his film 'Apoorvaragam'.

This film became a 'sleeper hit'. Sleeper hit means a surprise hit or an unexpected hit or unexpected recognition.
